General
This program was originally designed to act as a resource for the implementation of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA). However, as we continue to work with CCSS and SBA we have quickly learned that the implementation of best practices of teaching and learning are at the center of the new CCSS and SBA.
As a result, this program will continue to grow as we add other important content and processes with our school improvement plans. The components of this site are, in order:
- Common Core Standards
- Rockford’s ELA and Math Curriculum Maps by Grade Level
- Sample SBA Questions
- Best Practices for Instruction
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Technology Standards by Grade Level for SBA
RPS Goals
When you work through the various sections of this program you will have the opportunity to enrich your understanding of these important initiatives. Please read through each section, and if you have any questions, please contact your building principal or Dr. Kelley. We will continue to update this program. For example, as we begin to study the implementation of a consistent instructional model, we will provide information specific to the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) Model.
Thanks to KISD consultant Ron Houtman and Bob Siegel, Valley View Elementary Principal, for their efforts in creating this professional development tool.
