Digital Age Learning Culture Assignment

First, why should we use educational technology in the classroom? Watch this video, and make some notes about what is being described in the video.

Next, watch one my favorite thought leaders in teaching and learning, Sir Ken Robinson, describing how technology is changing education. As you watch the video, make some mental notes about the difference between what you grew up with and what sorts of technology your students have.

Next, watch this video with John Seely Brown on motivating learners.  Make some notes about the how our kids today are motivated by their activities.

Now - visit the Digital Age Learning Culture forum, and respond to the question, "Do we really need technology in the classroom?"

Using your experience as a professional educator, tell us your thoughts about using technology in the classroom.  Here are some guiding questions: Is it a good, bad or neutral thing?  What does technology make possible to do that we can't otherwise?  What would you say to a teacher that was reluctant to use technology in their practice? What do you think about what John Seely Brown talked about?  Support your arguments with ISTE-A and/or Common Core Standards.

Once you have posted to the forum, you can move onto the Universal Design for Learning assignment.
