A required business course in college is Basic Accounting Principles.  The Accounting Review shows that more than 60% of college students who fail accounting did not take accounting in high school.  Don’t be a statistic!  Sign up for accounting in high school.  Accounting is recording, analyzing and interpreting financial information.  Those who know basic accounting principles and concepts are better able to plan and keep adequate personal budgets and business records.  Accounting is the language of business. Many students graduating from Forest Hills go into some type of business-related study. This course is a study of accounting procedures for a sole proprietorship, a partnership, and a corporation as it relates to our global economy. This course may fulfill the cooperative education/work experience requirement and may be used as an applied math credit with prior teacher and counselor approval.

Students are expected to be proficient in spreadsheets.  Microsoft Exel will be used for classroom instruction.
