This course is designed to teach personal money management as well as reinforce basic math skills.  Students will discuss fundamentals of finance, work on solving business math problems, and deal with “real-life” financial situations.  The concepts that are covered include career planning, savings and checking accounts, investing, budgeting and financial records, individual taxes, housing and transportation, insurance and credit.  This course can be used as credit towards the applied science graduation requirements or as a math credit with prior teacher and counselor approval. 

Students are encouraged to have a calculator that performs financial calculations.  The TI BAII Plus will be used for classroom instruction.

Students are expected to enter the course with a proficient knowledge of spreadsheets.  Microsoft Excel will be used for classroom instruction.
